Went for a ride on the Steam train that runs from Stettler to Big Valley on the Weekend. What a great time! Entertainment, drinks, incredible food buffet, and awesome scenery (great wildlife). Great idea for a party or family outing. Their Steam engine #6060 produced the same horsepower as a new diesel engine and runs on recycled motor oil. Looks like they are going to bring some of the old unused track onto their tour. Will be looking to go back again when that happens. Just thought I'd share.

That is TOO COOL!!! I love steam.

I was VERY fortunate to get a chance to ride in the locomotive in Virginia City. I didn't realize how labour intensive those steam engines are. Was a GREAT experience.

Hope to take in this one maybe next year :happy0034:

We went in 2005. We enjoyed everything about it except the buffett. Hopefully it was just a bad day. I was embarrassed that the roast beef was labelled "Alberta beef". Terrible. The buns and the fresh fruit pies were awesome though.

So judging by the recent reviews, it is good to hear that the food was good. It was otherwise an enjoyable trip. I would go again.
