Just going over my county land-owner maps and planning a trip east of here. I've found some pieces of land that puzzle me.

1. There is a ton of land east of McGregor Lake in Vulcan county that is colored green and designated "Provincial land" in the map legend. What is this? Can anyone just hunt there without permission? Is it some sort of big communal grazing lease you need permission on? An unmarked Irrigation district? Anyone got any info?

2. In Newell County there is a ton of land designated "EID". I'm assuming that is the Eastern Irrigation District. Can you hunt that? Do you need district approval or are there lease-holders on that land that you have to seek out?

Thanks for any info.

If you provided a legal land description or two I could check to see what my data tells me about the areas, with regards to dispositions etc.

I've had a cursory glance east of McGregor, and it looks like you could be seeing grazing leases (GRLs).

EDIT: There are PNTs (protective notations) in there, too.

You are suppose to obtain permission from the EID. Getting permission shouldn't be an issue unless they have something going on on a certain parcel.

Oki,

This link will give you the access contacts and conditions.

Most of the Grazing leases in this area require notice before access, some don't.
