I'm giving some credit to the fellows who predicted wilder than usual weather this summer due to lots of snow-pack in the mountains. By my recollection, I don't think I've seen this quantity of hailstorms in Calgary before; and I've been here since 1971....

The spell of it we just had here seemed tomb amlittlemlonger in duration as well, but the hail itself wasn't sizable, so that's good.

I guess it's Google-time...

I was up in Crowfoot when it hit. Didn't get much for hail, but the rain was unreal. The sheets of it were so heavy the wind carried it like drifting snow. The best part was watching a couple of creepy goth kids caught out in it. :D

I'm gonna go out to check how the tomatoes fared. Yesterday I put the magpie trap over the plant to keep the thieving squirrels off of them. I was finding decent-sized green tomatoes a good distance from the pot, so they seem the likely suspects.

LOL, just drove down centre street, the water was 4 inches under my mirror, for almost 200 yards.( and I got a full size Chev, with 35 and a 6inch lift). I seen some cars in the water, that all you could see was an antenna. Oh ya and a full size dodge was totally submerged to the wipers. Guess he should have dodge it instead of ram it....lol

Holy crapballz! Where abouts on Center St., Potty?

Right infront of Murray Copot area, and another one not quite as deep but over 3 ft about 62nd ave and centre.

There was a couple of guys with dingies and a one canoe out there as well....lol. Should be on the news for sure, I saw a news truck filming.

Barely a spritz down south. Almost no hail all Summer down here. The NW always seems to get the worst of it.

I had been fishing at Prince's Island for about half an hour when it hit. I had to take cover under the pedestrian bridge for over an hour, until it let up. Hail up to a little lager than a quarter (painful when they hit you in the head, carried by those 80 km/h winds!), and lots of rain. Some parts of Memorial and 5th Ave were under a foot or more of water. Fun to go through when you have big, all-terrain tires!

Should be easy to tell, but the coin used for scale is a quarter.

Had a group of guys go by in a drift boat, and a few people in their inflatable toys...I wonder how they all made out?

I had at least 4-5" of rain here within the half hour. 17 ave down from the old hospital looked like Niagra Falls. I imagine 14 st west had some troubles too.

The gutters and the neighbors yard overflowed onto my side walkway, had to do some emergency sandbagging. Glad I always have a few bags around for target practice.

Was up in crowfoot when it hit. On the drive home it got so bad we had to pull over. I could barely see anything, even once parked it was difficult to see the road. So we waited it out and once it was nice enough we boogied home.
Lot of branches down, the water was pretty deep on the road. Talk about insane.

That was some insane weather you all got last night. I work at YEG and there was a ground stop into Calgary for about an hour due to the weather. Radar showed at least a dozen flights holding waiting for the airport to open up enough to take a shot. As well, the radar showed FOUR "hail stop" aircraft in the air at the same time, all within about 10 miles of the city, seeding the clouds. Normally, you may see one or two of them up at any given time within a certain area.
