Went up to Fawcett lake today and tried out my top water lures i made. They work! I caught this guy and had three other near misses where the pike made a jump for the lure but i was too slow to react and missed the hook up . All in all very satisfying I must say ,to catch something on a lure I made from a piece of 2x4.:sHa_shakeshout:

Good Work !!
my daughter used to make her own jigs in the Garage when she was
about 12 . Took a jig head and she would glue on feathers and pipe
cleaners etc. Somtimes a bottle cap etc. They looked like modern art
and I encouraged her to keep it up. So.... we went out ice fishing and
we both used them. AND THEY WORKED !! I've always had this
theory that a Pike would eat a turd if it was tipped with a minnow.
After seeing all the presentations on TV and the bait added , scent ,
trailers, twister tails , and color selection...... I think Pike and or
some Walleyes are less picky than we think. Sometimes we overthink
the simplest of things. To put it in perspective..... I know guys
(and I'm one of them ) that eat anything put in front of them regardless
of color, presentation etc. Pretty sure a Pike is about as stupid as
me and my friends when it comes to dinner.

But .... I'm glad I get to go to all the stores and keep buying more lures.
Keeps me out of the bars .....
