Hey I'm completely new to fishing. I know next to nothing haha so I'm looking for some good advice. My brothers and I went to a place called Goat Pond in the Rockies and ended up catching three fish, two rainbow trout and one we have absolutely no idea what it was. It was a sucker fish, grey and very large. Anyways, we're looking to go to Sylvan Lake to try fishing again off the shore, we're hooked ;) lol. All we know is, put a worm on the hook and try to cast as far as we can. Is there anything that can help our chances of getting a fish? And HOW do you kill a fish!? Two of three we caught (we let one go cause he was so little) would NOT die! It made me uncomfortable hah.. thanks in advance!

Good advice is hard to find so I'll give ya mine instead. Try red devils or five of diamonds when fishing lakes with jackfish in them don't be scared to wade out. Remember to check regs for length restrictions. A nice hard rap on the head with a stick will stop the flopping around.
