westward ho camping

hi there i plan on doing some camping and fishing in and around westward ho campsite and was wondering if anyone has camp and fished there? and i think i readf some where that it got hit early this year by a tornado?jon

I have a permanent spot up there, the tornados that touched down in July were aways from the campground but we did get hit with some pretty good storms, one which produced softball sized hail. As for fishing, the Little Red Deer river runs through the campground, I have caught some decent Brown Trout in there but it can be really tough fishing due to people floating down the river and people from inside the campground swimming etc. Your best bet would be to fish outside the campground or hit the Red Deer river (flows through Sundre, about 5 mins away) or the James river which is a little farther NW of Sundre.

Oh, and it is bear country up there, so if you plan on hiking up the rivers, good idea to take some bear spray with you!
