I can't stand ice fishing, I can't wait for the rivers to open up. Am I alone?

No, you're not alone. I am with ya!! I just try to make the best of ice season while it's here and count down the days until open water.

Me too, but I can't wait for May. Hitting the island in Feb, Port Alice, for halibut, snapper, Columbian springs, and TUNA. Yeah, tuna!:D :D :D

This hard water is great inconvenience .... It's better than nothing but nothing is gaining ground W101

You can through my hat in as well. Nothing beats open water season. If it wasn't for the underwater camera I would hardly ice fish at all.

Hunting and Ice Fishing beats the open water season there SNAPFisher!!!!

My order goes:

Ice Fishing
Hunting
FlyFishing

I just love ice fishing, don't really know why. Although if you asked me that question when I'm standing outside in -25 and freezing my arse off, I would probably agree I'd rather be in sandals and shorts in the north saskatchewan chucking streamers.

Lol. Good thread. I for one love the open water, there are just so many options when it comes to presenting a lure. Ice fishing is very limited by comparison plus its freezing out. I couldn't pick a favorite though. If there wasn't ice fishing i don't know what i'd have to look forward too during the winter months. The camera does make ice fishing fun but don't limit your electronics to the hard water you can make use of it on open water too! Fishing over hunting in my books. Tight lines guys.

Since moving here from Ontario 7 years ago, the only fishing I do is ice fishing. no boat for the lakes, and don't know a thing about how to fish in a river (although I might give it a try this season, or at least spincast some reservoirs from shore). Ice fishing lets me get out onto the water and catch fish without spending a fortune on rods, lures, watercraft, etc. And since I don't have another sport in the winter, it gives me something fun to do on the weekends.

If anything im not looking forward to open water. I prefer ice fishing a whole lot more then open water, although i do enjoy the stream fishing but i can wait:)

I love the open water, but this is my very first year ice fishing and I have to say there is something about it. Can't be the fishing because I can't seem to catch a thing, but I do love it and I'd be hardpressed to choose which one I love more. :)

I love hardwater season, but for those that don't - The bow looked prime south of the city yesterday... :)
