It was a great day on Travers yesterday. A bit overcast but the wind put a great 'Walleye Chop' on the water. Water temperature was 64F. On our first stop my son-in-law hooked a Pike and got it to the boat. I was just ready to net it when the hook came out and it swam away. Without a word of a lie, I swear it was not less than 8 pounds. We caught a few more smaller Pike that went back. No Walleye though. Just after we had lunch we started drifting and casting weed beds. This time my son-in-law hooked one that he thought was another small one. The reason was it was swimming right for the boat. As soon as it saw the boat the fight was on. It stripped line out about 5 times before he got it to the net. A great fish. 12.5 pounds. Half for frying and half goes into the smoker today. We may not have seen much sun but we sure did have fun. Hope your weekend goes just as well.
