Can anyone explain to me why Alberta does not go with a slot size for keeping fish rather than "" anything over xxx size"" ?

It would seem to me that it would go a lot further to propagating the fish stocks in a given lake if the breeding size fish were not always under attack by the majority of anglers out there.

take a couple smaller ones for the pan if you want but leave the breeders in the lake.

Try a search on this topic, it has been talked about before.:)

In short after everyone keeps their couple small ones, none or few make it to the breeder size. That is the condensed explanation.:)
