Once again made it out for 6:30 or 7am somewhere around there anyways.

Two big guys around 21-22" or so, and a cute little rainbow that i finally got on a nymph. The big guys were suckers for the Chernobyl ant once again.

Didn't get a picture of the Rainbow, he was a little guy, probably around 10-12" so I set him free quickly so he could get onto eating some real food. Lots of risers today!

Great fish!! Those Bow River fish fight like mad too!

As an aside, please try to avoid laying the fish in the grass or on any dry surface as it removes their protective slime and leaves them very vulnerable to disease. Just a heads up for next time.

Nice pics. Thx.

Why is it the guys with the small nets always get the big ones?

I have been refraining from laying them on the grass but I need a much bigger net so I can de-hook them while still keeping them in the water. But I assure you I am doing everything else possible. Even holding my breath so gauge how long I have them out of the water.

nice fish. so, was finally catching a cute rainbow on a nymph more exciting than one of those brown inhaling a foam bug off the surface?

I was actually pretty damn excited about it. Something about the timing and watching the indicator disappear so suddenly was pretty cool to experience.

But in the end, yeah you guys win, I like the big hits on the surface, and after bringing in the first brown of the day I had to sit for a moment and collect myself, pretty damn tiring pulling in all that line by hand.

Forgot to mention before I caught the Rainbow I had a little guy rocket out of the water like a missile after a small black /w red bottom fly, that was pretty funny to see, guess he has to work on his timing a little...

Do you fish the chernobyl ant on top of the water by itself? Or are you tying a dropper off the back as well? Great fish! Awesome pics!!! Thanks for any help you can give, i've been getting beat up on the bow this year!

I do both actually. Sometimes I start out walking the banks just throwing the Chernobyl as I go also just watching for rises as I go and what not and if I get a hit all the better.

If I see some rises in an area I'll setup shop and start targeting the area if I get a hit on the Chernobyl I snap a few pictures and then tie on a dropper. Then I target the same area and see if there's anything else lurking there, if that fails then I start walking the bank with the dropper setup hunting for signs of fish once again. In the end I walk a lot during the day, I check what kind of bugs are are on the shore and what's floating down the river.

It's a total experience not really a fishing only thing for me.

If you ever want to hit up the Bow down my 22x early in the morning let me know. I'm thinking of getting some fishing in Friday through Sunday here so I'll be around.
