seeing as i have to go to the fishing hole anyway???
thinking of getting a new rod. i want to match it up with a pflueger
reel i picked up.
i allready have an ugly stick. i fish mainly pike & rainbows.
not a lot of trolling. mostly shore fishing.
do not have a large budget so something reasonably priced
that has some backbone.

opinions please

thanks

Shimano Volteaus comes with a lifetime warranty, $50
Shimano Claurus quite a bit nicer also lifetime warranty, $85

I love Shimano rods, been using them for years, my rod of choice, Compre, $120, strong, sensitive, lifetime warranty...

good point. i had a few of the cheap shimano rods a few years
ago & they took a beating but worked very well.
i think we even wore out the guides on a couple.lol

Take the reel in with you....match it up on a few rods and get a feel.
My choice of rod is the Quantum Tournament series, best rod in the mid range market with the feel and performance of a Loomis stick.
Its on for 60 bucks
good luck

Did you mean tour edition? I don't see a tournament series on the website.

yup 60 bucks!!!!!!
When that rod first came out it was 150 or so but popularity must of increased the producton run and lessened the retail tag on it.
I feel kinda cheap that my favorite rod is now 60 bucks....lol
The calgary store has both 1 and 2 piece

Yep. At 9:00 I was the only guy looking at the rods. There was indeed a full rack of them.(There would have been about 25 of them) Only thing is though,I did not notice any 2 piece Tours. For me,it would just be a matter of time before I broke a 1 piece. That's why I opted for the Compre.

My favorite rod is the voltaeus. Super fast tip and medium action. I got 2 spinning. 5'6" & 6'6" And looking at a 4'6" for perchin.

Sweet price for a rod. Only problem is the fishin hole doesn't carry the short one and I have to go to one of the OTHER stores to get it.

Haven't tried the quantum though. May have to pick one up.

i am the same as you with regards to the one piece.

My wife stopped by today and picked up a 7' one for me. If you would like the 6'6" one which she picked up the day before let me know. Or else I am going to take it back.
