...and nothing says easy livin' like chasing trout with the fly rod!

Got out & chased cutties with Uberfly & a couple new fishing buddies. Great company, great scenery & some cooperative fish made for a fun day in the mountains...

Some ate my Stimulator...

When the dry fly fishing slowed down, I switched to a nymph rig. Got this little bull trout on a Blindman Stonefly nymph tied by Chubbdarter. I'm sure this guy will prove to be the first of many fish I'll catch on Chubb's flies; thanks, Chubb!

Awesome as usual Bob. I bet if 50 people uploaded pictures here a lot of us would be able to tell which ones are yours. That, Mr. Bobloblaw, is a significant accomplishment in photography.

I had plans to meet another fishing buddy further south in the morning, to spend the day on a smaller river. This is the last thing I saw before crashing in the car for the night...

Up bright and early, and off to fish some new water...

I met another new fishing buddy at 7:30am for a quick coffee & off on some backroads to chase cutties & rainbows. Some spectacular scenery on the stretch of water we fished.
My partner in crime fishes a gorgeous run...

http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/7553/p8200512.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/851/p8200512.jpg/)

Hiking to the next spot...

http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/6862/p8200514.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/220/p8200514.jpg/)

Fished nothing but dry flies all day. Got fish in pretty much every spot that looked like it should hold fish. A few tiny 'bows...

http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/6355/p8200513.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/851/p8200513.jpg/)

Some better cutts...

http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/1555/p8200511.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/534/p8200511.jpg/)

The next couple pics are of my fave fish of the day. I got a perfect drift in a nice run. Just as my fly drifted over an underwater ledge, I thought, "NOW!"
And, right on cue, this absolutely gorgeous cuttbow smashed my Lime Humpy! I brought him to hand & just couldn't believe how beautiful this little jewel was.
I love the spotting on this trout!

http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/3734/p8200515.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/594/p8200515.jpg/)

http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/9938/p8200516.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/36/p8200516.jpg/)

Never got any big fish, but had a blast! Biggest hooked was probably a 17" rainbow my buddy long distance released. Saw a bull trout in a deep pool that might have went 30"; didn't have the right equipment to fish for him, but I know where he lives...
Best two days fishing I've had in a while; I love the mountains!
It's even better when you share the fishing with quality people; couldn't ask for better than the folks who joined me for those two days. Good times...

'til next time, y'all!

Does seeing one Sally count as a hatch?:)
'Cause that's all I saw...
It was actually kinda odd on the piece of the Oldman we fished. The trout pretty much stopped rising in the evening...

Thanks, Lucky_m_s. I'm glad you enjoy my pics & I appreciate the compliment.
But, just so's there's no confusion: I'm 100% certain that nobody who's ever fished with me has come away thinking,"Wow! He's a great fisherman!"
I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE fishing, & I'm lucky enough to have a very understanding wife who lets me off the leash lots. Either she loves me & wants me to be happy, or she's sick of looking at me after 25 years together.:) Whatever her reason, I get on the water a fair bit. I can't cast a fly rod worth crap; some of the guys I fish with make it look so easy. I hate those guys...:mad0100:(Not really.) I don't tie flies, I don't know much about hatches & life cycles of bugs.
But, I still catch some fish; that's good enough for me. It helps that I get out with guys I meet through forums like this one; they get me on some great water & shorten the learning curve for me.
As for photos, here's my secrets...
-get some sort of waterproof camera. I use an Olympus Stylus850SW; there are lots of options out there, some pretty reasonably priced. Now, you can get some sweet underwater shots, or pics right at water level. Grip and grin shots are okay sometimes, but I take more pics that focus on the fish.
-don't take all your pics from 5 ft off the ground. Get higher for some pics. get down at water or ground level for others. You'll quickly see how quickly you pics get more interesting.
-take lots of pics. The great thing about digital cameras is that it's so easy to take lots of shots, then sort 'em later. There's been a few times where I think I have a great shot (looks good on the LCD screen), only to find out it's a little out of focus. Better to take a few similar shots; chances are, one of 'em will be good!
-editing. Have some sort of editing program that lets you tweak your original pic a little. I just use a Kodak Easyshare program that came with my old camera.
-the Internet is your friend. I check out a bunch of fishing forums to get ideas how to get good pics. There are some talented fishermen & photographers out there; steal there ideas!:)

So, in a nutshell: fish lots, take lots of pics. Have fun!

I so agree with lucky ms... I am new here but I've seen some of your photo's and there just wonderful. I take many many photo's and ppl ask me why? I tell them, you have lots to choose from and some to delete if needed. I am also lucky to have a pretty good guy to help me get a grip on this new hobby I love, fishing !!
