well it is filmed somewhere in Russia, so you can bet that pike is not coming back to water.

I know quite a few to make speculations. To me it looks like if you handling pike that way you are not thinking about releasing it - simple logic. I could be wrong though and maybe they let her go. In no means I wanted to offend russians, but most of fish cought in Eastern Europe ends up on kitchen table.

Being Russian I can 2nd that - pike of this size is not going back (very unlikely). Smaller ones might. (Now I personally can see a point of releasing larger fish)
