there is still some big fish in there. i got back last nite from fishing travers and we caught a keeper pike 77cm and i we put it on the stringer and continued to fish. later on a kid came by and wanted to see the fish and low and behold the beast was gone??? i didn't know they can thrash and open the stringers like that. the stringer that held the beast was all deformed so next time i will bring a ball peen hammer and bonk him out first. lol just kiddin.

The cheap clip stringers are garbage for big fish. I too have lost a couple fish off them. Not sure if the more expensive ones are better or not as I have never used them. If you are fishing from shore I would recommend the plastic covered steel stringers. From a boat these soon become a mess though as they get kinked when tying in knots, poly stringers work decent but will begin to stink over time(if you clean properly can avoid though).

Fish keep better if you put them on ice right away. I just take a cooler with ice and throw the fish in a bag then in the ice.

That's usually what the jealous ppl's post looks like. Coming from personal experience, and just random observation from this forum..... IMO, GREAT FISH!!! Thanks for sharing!!

LOL! Thanks for all the kind comments guys. The length is definitely correct but I would concede to the weight being wrong. I haven't checked the accuracy of my scale. To be honest, that was a heavy fish and I actually thought HEAVIER, but I'm totally biased! Regardless, she's back where she came from for someone else to catch one day.

Good job buds, Its a great fish caught from anywhere. Beats the pike I've been pulling out:mad0030: and Ive put in some serious time in the boat fishing the last 3 days strait...... up to 7hrs a day!! a fish like that would have put a smile on my face.
