My guess would be to eat it. Why else does one keep fish?

Well said.

Those kinds of comments are what stop people from posting pics.

It's his fish and his business.

Generally speaking, the majority of Northern Pike over 15Lbs are female and are the breeding stock for the lakes population. Also, like any other animal, the biggest oldest ones aren't quite as tasty as the smaller younger ones.
Nice fish though...

they all breed after a certain age, not just the big fish, why cant you haters understand this? a 2 inch fish carries the same genes as its 30 pound grandmother! :sign0161: its a persons right and privilege to harvest a legal fish to eat whenever they like as long as they follow the regulations.

Nice fish!

Whether you keep it or not is your decision. Sometimes it is hard for people to remember that they can't control what other people do, they can only control what they, themselves decide to do.

If its legal its legal, unfortunately Alberta has complete opposite regulations to every other province that seems to have gotten these things figured out. Its a nice fish, to bad knowone will have the chance to catch it again tomorrow though.

Bigger pics please! Great looking fish! Looks like a real fatty!
As far as the "why keep it comments", I personally have never kept anything over 5lbs, and don't really like to see others do it either, but it is their choice, totally legal, and it is up to the individual to decide. I fish mostly for sport. Others may not. NICE FISH!!!!

Did you open the stomach? Looks like he may have saved a tree and ate a beaver!

Clear as day to me. Some people need to get new glasses to understand this I guess. The old girls need to get harvested once in a while too....it's called the circle of life

Effin' great fish I hope to catch one like that soon!

The OP has every right to harvest a legal fish, how else would he be able to prove to his buddys that he caught no sh** of a lie a 20lb+ pike... its not every day you get physical evidence ! that and the butter and onions destined to be smothered on that hog will be mighty naked without her!

also, unknown, try the second set of pics, you can clearly see that that beast can fit the whole lawn chair down its gullet, with room to spare for a nice 5lb whitefish

You tell the guy to shoot the 90lb spikehorn not the 225lb 8 point because it tastes better .......:snapoutofit:

i understand why people moan about keeping a big fish, but for someone that might only get out once or twice a year and enjoys eating fish, why wouldnt he keep a large fish? a 2 lb walleye gets you a taste, a 6-7 lber gets you a few feeds....... same as deer hunting....... theres 2 deer side by side.... do you take the 100 lb fork horn or the 250 lb 4x4? 100 lb fork horn wont fill the freezer....how long does a 95 lb deer feed a family of 6? how many feeds do you get out of a 2 lb walleye?

I just have to say that I'm completely okay with keeping the fish, but I am totally offended by the way you're holding it............. just kidding.

That's a great fish, I never got one bigger than 12 pounds in all my years in alberta.
