After a few years of 999'ing for an antlered moose in 312, this year my application was successfull. Wouldn't you know it that on Sept. 13, I broke my leg. It's not a severe break, just two clean breaks on the fibula (between the knee and ankle). I've been in an aircast for the past 2 weeks and appear to be on the mend. I do have some options since I hunt with friends that are willing to accomodate me somehow. But I figured that I'd check with FW to see if I could postpone my tag for next year. Here are the rules that were communicated to me, as a reference for others who may face a similar situation:

1. Go down to local FW office and fill out a form. Bring a doctor's note.

2. The lady at RELM will review the case at the end of the season. In the meantime, I CANNOT purchase a license of any tags, birds included.

3. If I have followed the rules as stated above, my priority will be returned to it's former status and I will be able to re-apply next year.

Not a problem as my priority is high enough to secure a tag next year. This is not a complaint nor a rant, just advising others that may face the same issue. It does kinda suck though, because I have a spot that I can easily park my carcass and wait for the right deer to pass by and head for the freezer. Oh well! I came by the broken limb justifiably.

Fish n wildlife honored what they said last year , as a good friend of mine ripped his bicep last year trying to pull start my quad .. He was drawn for archery antelope and with the said documentation from his docters they gave him his priority back .. hope it works in your favor gitrdun..

If you are unable to hunt for the season you can turn back any tags with priorites and get them the following year. Not individually but all tags and licences for the whole season must go back.
I had eye surgery about 5 years ago in October and could not exert myself for 6 weeks after so turned back a 304 moose until the following year. They had to take back my certificate and game bird licence and refund that even though I had been using it until Ocotber. Rob
