Got back late Sat from a week in Mexico with my girlfriend it was short but we had a blast.

Managed to get out fishing Thursday. I rented a 40 foot boat for just the two of us and it was awsome.

After a 1.5 hour boat ride to the fishing grounds the guide set the two first rods up and BAM! Mahi Mahi on!!!! after a short fight I managed to land a 25lb Mahi Mahi.

Then after a while we hooked into a Yellow Tail? not a tuna but wow what a fight I was dog tired after the 10 minutes to get it in.

Then we got a another Mahi Mahi which the girlfriend reeled in ...(with a little rod holding assistance from yours truly) (35lb).

After that we each took our turn at a couple baneto tuna.

Then it happened the guides spoted a Marlin sunning its self ontop of the water, they eased the boat over about 20 yards from the fish and casted with a lighter rod a live herring and without hesitation the Marlin took it then began the fight on 30 lb test with a 150lb stripped Marlin after 45 min the fish did one last run right close to the boat and te hook tore out of his mouth. The Marlin swam away however I was stoked I just had an awsome fight with the largest fish I have ever encountered.
(only pic I have of my Marlin)

Still a little discouraged it was getting close to time to reel up the gear and head back towards the marina and one of the guides spotted a Sailfish did the same technique as with the Marlin casted out to it and WHAM the fish smoked the bait and I was in a fight with a 120lb sailfsh. What a blast!!! after about 30 min I had landed one of the biggest Sailfish caught this year (Apparently....they were really trying to get me to stuff it).

It was all that I could have hoped for and more also to top it off we must have seen 25-30 humpback whales and atleast as many dolphins.

The Haul Minus 1 Mahi Mahi and 1 Baneto Tuna (they made it back to the resort with us)

Mike, what a great post!!! Thanks for the great pics, video and story. That looks and sounds like too much fun. What a great way to totally blast those winter blues away.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you/they do with the fish? Did you get it packaged to take home or did it go to the resort?

WOW!!
That was one heck of a day fishing. I honestly don't think I have heard of someone catching that much of a variety in one outing.

Where were you at? I am guessing somewhere on the Pacific coast.
Any ideas what the length was tip to tail was on your sailfish?

Congrats

Thanks Guys ....yeah I had a blast forsure!!!!!

I was fishing out by Puerto Vallarta.

The Guides never put a tape on it, However they said about 100 inches.
I am 6'3" (75") so it should be a pretty accurate guess.

Cheers to all.

Nice fish!!!

We fish in Mexico alot but mostly along the Yucatan coast.

The ''yellowtail'' would appear to be a Jack crevalle, pretty common and good fighters!

The actual yellowtail are a little diffirent.

Alberta Bigbore, it really isnt that bad. I would say on average the rates are as follows.

$110 - $120 for 6 hours of shared fishing. Meaning you share a boat with 4-6 others.
or
$600 -$700 for 6 hours of your own boat. You can take whoever you want then too.

Oh ya those prices usually include all the Cerveza you can drink too! :D

Great pics!!!! Look out now that the deep sea fishing bug has bit.
Every holiday will be a little more expensive now  I have made a few fishing trips down to Puerto Vallarta with pretty good luck on each trip.
