Hello everyone, I herd that Island Lake by Athabasca had winter killed last winter and I was wondering if anyone has fished the lake this summer and if so how was the fishing? Hopefully if was only a partial kill.

I wonder if the winterkill killed all the bass..........DAMN. The one good bass lake in AB ruined by winterkilll :sHa_shakeshout:

Maybe they should stock some more:scared0018:

I think you are thinking of a different Island Lake.

I fished Island (near Athabasca) one day this summer and it was my first time there. Lots of hammer handles, average perch. I'm not sure how the lake typically fishes but it didn't seem winterkilled to me!

The one with bass is north of smoky lake.

Sounds like it wasn't much of a winterkill.... usually catch a bunch of hammer handles..... I did catch a 12ld pike last winter ice fishing however. Thanks for the info...

Has anyone ever seen a bass come out of anywhere in Alberta?
