Hm... i woke up this morning and i came up with the idea i could reload 308 win cartridges with a 30-06 die and i could reload 7mm rem mag with a 7mm rem ultra mag die....

Came up with the idea while i have no clue if its actually possible.... The fact is some caliber such as the 458 lott can be reloaded with a 458 win mag die and the 458 win mag can be shooted in a 458 lott rifle.... same for the 38 special and 357 magnum.....

Would be interesting to know if someone ever tried the experience such as resizing depriming a 308 win cartridge in a 30-06 die....

Probably the dumbest **** i ever wrote but im curious lol:confused:

Pretty sure your 308 case is a tad fatter at the shoulder then the 06.

That wasn't a dream....it was a nightmare, so don't do it. Use the properly designated dies. :thinking-006:

You could probably use a brake drum for a hard hat but in the interest of safety and reliability over cost savings and curiousity...would you?

Hey...we all get crazy ideas sometimes.
Thing is...it's sometimes better to be the idea guy than the lab rat...lol

some things are better left untested...but if you really want to make sure you got 911 on standby...

There are combinations of rounds you can load with the same dies. Hornady makes a number of universal seating dies that cover a variety of cartridges, for example their 22 seating dies will work on 22 Hornet to 22-250.

As far as sizing dies, to get multy cartride use you would need to be using a universal decapping die, followed by bushing dies, with no expander balls. The example here would be that one bushing die, with 4 bushings would cover 243, 7-08, 308 and 338 Federal.

What you are talking about is possible but you do really need to know your Chitz man. The wrong combination, like trying to use an 06 die to size 308, one doesn't work and two, other combos that might look like they do, sizing an 06 in 308 dies, can give you very dangerous results like excess headspace.

It is better to be an idea guy than a lab rat but make sure you aren't chasing the wrong cheese.

Bushing dies will work for many combinations but the OP was , I'm pretty certain, talking about full length dies, which will not work.

Reloading and Flying. Just two things in Life you don't want to deviate too much, from the Norm. :D
