Well drove around for a bit and was thinking where to fish i decided the N.S.R have not been there in a while, well i used the spinning gear with a nice black jig as that is the only thing that i use on the N.S.R, but first i headed off to wendys to grab a tripple classic combo, then off to the river i went, no body was there the water is very low, set up the rod and reel and realized i was missing a screw for my drag that made for a fun time fishing (NOT) well had fish on everycast lost most of them including a nice sized pike around 10 pounds he snapped my line at shore, only brought to jigs down with me this time, it was a cool 5 degrees out as well, here are the pics.

pike which had something wrong with his face, he looked blind, and many of the pike i caught or lost at shore i could see they had huge bite marks out of them like chunks of flesh hanging off a couple

Thx Darren, the big boys are moving around now, would not be surprised if we start catching 10-15 pounders right away here.

cool! I live in Spruce Grove. I was wondering what spot would be the easiest to drive to. I don't really like driving in Edmonton that much. Also What gear do you use for Walleye. I just use the same rod as I do for pike and 10 pound line.

well i use 6-8 pound trilene clear and also my black jigs, and you can fish any pool or back eddy in the n.s.r and they will all hold fish, spruce and stony have better spots then edmonton.

Cool! Thank u. Does it matter what kind of rod? Do you need a light or medium action rods to feel the bites?

this may sound stupid. What exactually is a back eddy.

the whirpools....swirly things in the water

for example a back eddy is where you have shallow water full of rocks or something else then it goes on an angle then you have deeper water where the fish like to hold out rest and feed in watch for the whirlpools or where shallow water goes into deep water quickly

a back eddy is typically when the main current changes direction and flows back in the direction it came from.
