Thanks,

I have both but won't part with any. With that said though, i trim new .30-.30 brass to length and fireform in my 1899B and i'm good to go.:)

Huntingtons still lists the current run Norma brass for the savage http://www.huntingtons.com/cases_norma.html and Clay at Prophet River can and will import it for you.

Canadian Distributor for Norma, who still makes new 303 Savage Brass.

Wholesale and BP in Calgary also carry Norma brass and may have some in stock. If not mail order from R Nichols in eastern Canada. Also, RPS International in Edmonton regularly carries Norma and can probably get 303 Savage for you. http://www.rpsinternational.com/

Guys do make it out of 30-30 brass but it is a long ways from being the right size, as in the base is .420 on 30-30 and .442 on 303 Savage, so be careful how hot you load them.If I were to form caes I would use current production 375 Winchester cases, they are the same .422 as 30-30 but tend to be a little heavier in the web area. I have seen these made from 303 British, if you can full length size them enough and if your gun will accomodate the slightly larger .540 vs .505 rim size. The .540 rim size of the 303 British is the same rim size as 30-40 Craig rim, and this is another case that is commonly formed to make 303 Savage.

Also be aware that the Bore size on 303 Savage rifles ranged from .311 to .308, depending on when they were made. Slugging the bore would be a good idea if you are going to use anything other than .308 bullets in it. 150 grain spitzers work well out of the model 99 and give much better range than the traddional 190 grain round nose.

Best of luck and let us know how you make out.

Will spitzers properly expand at the low .303 Savage velocities though?

You can get 150s going over 2500 FPS out of the 303 Savage so as long as you pick the right thin jacketed bullet like the Nosler Ballistic Tip in .308 150 grain, there is no problem getting them to open up.

I occurred to me that Elwood Epps developed a lot of wildcats off of this round, so I checked their website and sure enough they list ammo for the 303 Savage. I don't know if they actually have any in stock but it only costs a phone call to find out.:)

I just acquired one of these beauty savages unaware that it was different than .303 brit, after a few searches I shook my head a little then began searching for ammo.

Hope this helps.

Lots of guys still shooting 303 Savages so I am sure lots will be interested in where to find ammo or brass. I would be very interested if someone has found a more common case that can be formed to 303 Savage easily. By the way Xreload has Privi 303 Savage $105/100 and Hornady 300 Savage brass in stock, $118/100. Tradex has Privi 303 Savage for $90/100

I noticed Canadaammo has loaded hornady as well. Could be a 303 renaissance.

Budget Shooter Supply and Tradex (both on CGN) have 303 Savage brass, roughly $100 for 100 cases.
