I fished out of an area, just north of playa del carmen in november. Can't remember the name, but I always go deep sea fishing while on holidays. Never got a marlin..... yet!

Good luck, who are you fishing with?

Go to the following board and put up the same posting. There are many followers and was great when I went to Akumal. Someone has an answer for any info here.

akumal bay is an excellent location to snorkel and swim with sea turtles. I was swimming 2 ft above a 5' baracuda. holy teeth

also, don't be afraid to take the colectivo instead of a cab. they are much cheaper. 20 peso per person, take you right into playa
