Great looking set and great catch, Looks similar to a few of my "open" sets, however, I don't have the surrounding bush. And rather than go into my snares, they are going around. :( The snares really seem to stand out against the snow!
Great pics and thanks for sharing.

What is the cable size and how you treat your snare?

I believe the snare is 1/16, I always seem to get all my fractions mixed up :), but it's the thin fine stuff that Marty Senneker uses. I boil my snares first in water and baking soda, and then place them in Formula 1 dye.
The coyotes are just on to me in this area as I've caught 4 there already. However, I did hang a few in some long grass in the area, I hope to trick this big old wily male yet!

This one is 1/16 x 1/19, camlock, with a Stinger spring....snare is 10' long and has been boiled.

Do you guy's boil your snares for scent elimination? I have never boiled my snares in the past and have never had a problem with the coyotes being shy. What I do find is that the coyotes get shy after catching a few close to a bait. Then I usually find trails further back and that seems to work well. I'm always trying to improve my techniques!!!!!

I find the exact same thing with bait shyness...which is why I set this location.

I boil them in baking soda because it takes the shine off the cable.....but it also allows them to rust if your snares get to be a year or more old......and that really weakens the cable.

What did you anchor the snare to, the snow has it covered?

I made up these stakes.....then attach a support wire to the stake and use a quick link to attach the snare and make it easy to change snares....and then pound the stake in.
