I have heard a few guys say they love them and other people say they hate them because the steering is hard to control when the plate is down. Also don't forget to bring it up before opening up the throttle or you will be heading to a welding shop to get the plate fixed.

I love mine. It is a little hard to get up by yourself, you have to lift the motor out of the water and manually do it, mind you a kicker motor by yourself is no fun as well.
The best thing I did with mine was make a notch at 45 degrees. I found when it was all the way down it was way too slow.

I would recommend this product.

Just got a used one for my 150 merc , we've had them before and they work well. Cut mine down a bit for better steering but haven't tested it yet. Needed to slow down about a haalf mile an hour for downrigging

At the 45 degree setting steering is no problem.

Buddy and I used one with a 90HP Mariner for the last 10 years and it worked great. Steering wasn't bad when you got used to it. You should be zigging and zagging for effective trolling anyway.
