What is the best fly set up to use this time of year in rivers (Red Deer River). Any info is good info, Thank you.

nymphs would be my go-to.

Nymphs will catch you whitefish. Lots of whitefish.
I caught a little brown on a copper john.

If you are targetting bigger browns, I would probably use a streamer.

I'd definetely go with streamers on a sink tip fly line, then tie on the bend of the hook about 18 inches of line and add a small size 16 nymph pattern...then hang on tight!!!
Swing the set up through the current, then when it gets below you strip it with a small strip, pause, strip action. If there are pike walleye browns or even white-fish this will work great!

got a text from a local bentley boy who fishes the rd a lot. text was hard to dicipher but i got this much. whitefish shallow 1.5'. use dark scuds no indy, fish the riffles. browns are post spawn. BWO on overcast days if risers are spotted, otherwise fish dark streamers to imitate sculpin. how this helps. some of it makes sense.
