CFB Wainwright Annexation

Any board members know when the proposed expansion is going to take place?

Surveyors were supposedly out this week.

For those that don't know about it, CFB Wainwright is planning an annexation of their South West boundary.

Essentially squaring off a portion of the South West corner of the Camp by purchasing all of the surrounding lands.

I worked that project almost up to the day I got out two years ago. Ongoing thing for the past ten or so. If the surveyors are out there now you can expect it to be the best part of a year before it is a done deal. That corner cut out of the ranges poses some problems for the weapons being fired there in training. The army has huge extra safe danger templates and the arcs of fire for some of the stuff was limited to as little as 10 degrees. Not realistic for training. Unless you had private rights to hunt that area there will be no impact on you or the wildlife for that matter. Hunting in Wainright won't change.

Yup, my concern is ( selfish ) the access I have to the private land in the proposed annex. Since they will have to get at least two farmers to move I was hoping I might get one more season!!!

There is serious talk about the idea and only talk right now....It is long process and it might take awhile if it happens! I would count on hunting your area at least on more season!

We have a pasture 1/4 in the said area.......word is that there are going to be some talks this spring........we'll see......they have have talked about it for years.......however the Camp did send a letter to the M.D. about it......It will take a bunch of good hunting.....if it goes threw.
