How far out do you have to walk out at Carson lake to be where the fish are?

Thinking about first ice and walk on.

shouldn't have to kim. just in front of the boat launch and a little to the north in front of the sea wall on the big side of the lake or right in front of the beach/playground area on the small side.

But you have to walk out somewhat, right? 25yds, 100yds? Wondering if im gonna need a sled for the gear 100 yds or more, or just a couple of trips say 25yds. Never ice fished there before and thinking that would be the perfect place for a walk on trip in mid to end of Nov.

Try near the weed beds for the first season ice up to four inches thick.
As the winter goes by then start moving to deeper water.
The weed bed near the boathouse on the right side of the dock is a good place to start. Just walk out 150 feet or so. Maggots on 1/32 ounce jig and very light fishing line will give you hours of fun.
Good Luck and Happy Trout Hunting..........
