proudest catch was a 20 inch rainbow, why because i caught her first cast of the day, she put up a great fight, not the biggest of the year, but the fight of the year. very memorable

I totally sucked at catching anything big this summer, but got out LOTS with the family, which was so rewarding and fun, and was proud as can be of my six year old and her first walleye!

Tons of nice fish this year, can't decide on a pic but heres good one. Rainbow taking on a nymph with the 4 weight, ran me out to my backing... crazzy fighter/3 feet out of the air jumper.

My favorite fish of the year has no pictures because I lost it about 10 feet from my belly boat. It is the only fish to take me into my backing ever and it did it 3 times. Once it hit the surface my jaw dropped. I kind of panicked trying to get it landed and forced it to much and it ended up spitting the nymph with one quick head turn on its way back to the bottom. It would have been easily my biggest fish on the fly rod.

I don't take pictures when out fishin but a friend on this outing snapped this for me. But I do wish I had a pic of a really nice rainbow I caught in the Spring.

The one shot I really wanted was the 33" bull on a 4wt in the Carbondale but of course I didn't have any camera with me.

Second best would be the thick 20" cuttie out of the Elbow of all places.

The fish I am the most ptoud ot this season was a brown trout out of the Bow because it was huge and gorgeous but I never got a picture of him so the runners up are my biggest sturgeon and burbot to date which were caught on the same day.

We forgot to snap a picture of my fish but this is my buddies. My first fish on a fly rod was an Atlantic Salmon. I caught it in Mary's Harbour Newfoundland. It was an amazing fight. The fish was in an eddie behind a boulder and when i hooked him he hit the rapids and white water. Jumped several times a few feet out of the water. I'll be back there this year for sure.

My best for 2011 was a 26" monster bull from Pierre Grey's Lakes - surprised the heck out of me because all we were catching were little 10-14" bows all day and then wham! No picture because it was raining hard and we didn't bring a camera out.

Instead, here is a picture of a nice 21" bow I got at Swan Lake who fought like a devil (onto the backing at one point on my 4wt made for a fun fight).

Those are some pretty amazing pikes guys!

Cheers!

My most memorable fishing story of the season is this big bull caught at pannorama at lower k while in my little blue kayak. She took me for a short but exiting ride and then i pulled her in for a quick picture. of course she wouldnt hold still and over half her body was under my leg for the photo (sorry for the shot of my hairy legs). The best part of her performance though was when i tried to lift her back into the water and she squirmed forward and ended up with my cammera case over her head. As I lifted her she then jumped out and started to swim with the case still over her head. Several onlookers fishing meters away from me from the shore of the inlet were laughing with and/or at me of course as i almost lost my paddle in the comotion. In my own defence i will say the fish was back in the water in under a minute without a scratch on her. Every time i think about that fish i cant help but laugh. :sHa_sarcasticlol:

Another great moment I will never forget is my sons 1st ever fish. It was the same camping trip as my other memorable moment but a different lake.

I set him up with a slip bobber, colored snell hook and a colored bead with a worm.

First cast he reeled it in as soon as it hit the water. I mentioned to him that he has to let it sit so that the fish can bite it. Keep in mind that the little guy was only a year and half old at the time. Second cast I watched his bobber go under but couldn't get him to give his patented hook set.

3rd cast the bobber shot under the water and took off. I told the little guy to flip his bail and set the hook like he did in the backyard or garage. He immediately looked over to me and flip the bail with his fingers at the same time. Set the hook like a bassmaster's champion and reeled in his 1st fish which was a nice little brookie between 10-12" long. The fish ended up swallowing the hook to deep so we kept it along with 3 others that the little guy caught to cook up over a camp fire for friends and family.

The smile and excitement on his face when he seen that bobber go down and set that hook will be forever etched in my head and I hope to see many more years of that. I can't wait until I am healed up and can take him out for his first perch or brookie through the ice.

I may also have to visit trophyboy and droptine in the spring after bullshead is open for some ice fishing so the 3 boys can hammer the bows.

Guided the owners 12 year old daughter to a 44.5" northern up in Northern Ontario at the lodge I used to guide at while on holidays this summer. We saw it a few times following our walleyes to the boat. Threw every pike lure we had to try to get it to hit something. In the end it fell for the old jig and minnow. Was released to BE CAUGHT AGAIN!

Best memory of the year has to be putting my wife and father in law on their first ever bull trout. Most memorable fish of the year for me was a 4lb cutt ( first cutt ever for me) caught on ultralight gear during the early morning on Upper K in June.
