My 16 yr old son wants to hunt coyotes tomorrow by himself. He has a POL, a wildlife certificate and a valid deer licence. Up to now he has only hunted with me. Is it legal for him to carry a firearm without adult supervision? Any advice would be great.

Legally, no. He must be accompanied.
In reality, he needs to learn how to be on his own.
I started "going around the other side" of valleys, wood lots, slashes when I was 13-14. By the time I was 16 I was doing all of my hunting "on my own" while other family hunted in the general area. Usually we would all meet up at lunch but I was on my own from sunrise to lunch, and from lunch to dark.

If he has the minor's lic (I assume that is what you mean by POL) he can carry a firearm without supervision.
However, Alberta hunting laws require him to be accompanied.
