Backwoods boy

For my 2011 season I pulled a mule tag in a zone that we typically don't hunt much, but there was decent numbers there last year so we figured that it would be worth a shot. Well it turned out to be a fairly challenging experience to try and close my tag on a decent buck, even just seeing any amount of anything with or without horns was tough around there. We tried everything from pushing bush to still hunting to spot and stalk but just couldnt seal the deal on anything. Finally this morning my brother (wildcats) and I were out for a quick drive and seen this buck skirting a slough in a pasture. I bailed out quick and got loaded up and snuck up the fenceline a little ways. I could see him walking away with his back to me and it appeared like he would soon be out of view with a few more steps... I dropped my bipod and hunkered down in the snow, safety off, and tightened up on the trigger, we guessed him at roughly 300 yards across the slough... All I remember hearing was the pop from the gun and a good smack from the bullet hittin home as a 165 grainer ran through the length of his body. DIRT NAP! :sHa_shakeshout: He didnt take one more step and he was lights out! hes not the biggest deer but for my first mule he sure fits the bill! :sHa_shakeshout:
