The temperature change seemed to be at the base of the foothills, I would assume the ice might be ready in some areas, but I wouldn't be very comfy on it yet. By next weekend, with cooler temp's through the week, hopefully we can get out everywhere.

I would wait for a bit yet. I was hiking around Beauvis yesterday in that wind and the water was moving across the ice something fierce. Ice was breaking away from the shore. Didn't look very thick elsewhere on the lake.

Over there on the other side by the bank . Used a silver hook with a bait on one end and a funny red and white thingy on the other end.

There,now you should be set.

Ice is about 14-16". Two of us yesterday caught our limit in 1 1/2hrs as well as a couple suckers...we were pretty much in the middle straight off the launch. Fish were about 10-12".

Ice is slick in some places, FYI.

Fishing king.... This question has been answered for you in many of the threads that you have asked this exact (or similar) question. Get out and try different baits that have already been recommended to you in those other threads, and see what works.

Have only a couple of choices....get some maggots, worms, meal worms, shrimp, minnows....see what they like best, then stick to it.

It also helps to READ previous posts...FULLY...before you ask that question!!

Made it out to Chain today......What an awesome day, sun was shinning....really no wind and the fish where biting!!!!! Started fishing just before 3pm, put my first line down and as I was preparing my second line the first had a bite and it was like that for almost an hour, also had double hits (and landed the fish) twice!
Ice thickness is from 13" to 15", used all bait to see what was hitting the best, found that worms and Vel-cheese worked best. Brought 4 home for supper tonight but landed 14 in 2 hours.

Question, Whats your best way of cooking these rainbows? We bbq them tonight... alittle salt/pepper and lemon juice. whats better to use on the bbq (time to cook, tin foil or no tin foil, spices?) and if you pan fry, what do i use.

Thxs.

Just a bit along the shore line but no issues in getting stuck. There were lots of 2 wheel drive car/trucks on the ice yesterday.

When I was out at chain lakes last weekend, there was a small white car doing donuts on the ice...If you want to play with your life, go find a parking lot as you are a flippin idiot and are not out there to fish and putting other lives at risk.. Hillbilly goof!

What a awesome day on the lake today, clear skies, no wind, and nice and warm. Very busy but well worth it, even caught some fish. Just sitting in the sun soaking it up would have made it a great day
