Well, I've put a lot of time in hunting this season. I am a teacher so my weekends are really the only time I can get out. I've been hunting since September and have been very surprised by the lack of deer this year. With the season coming to a close my standards were nearly being lowered. I even considered shooting a spiker :scared0015::scared0015: Instead I passed and waited it out. The wind picked up Saturday afternoon and there wasn't much movement since the early am. I started rattling with my pack rack... nothing. I waited and rattled again, this time much more aggressively. At approximately 3 pm. My buck was spotted, walking through the bush, trying to get downwind of me and see what all the fuss was about. He came into about 40 yards where I waited for a clearer shot. I let him have 2, 140 gr. accubonds, to the chest. He cringed, walked 5 yards, stood for about 30 seconds, and fell over. I was ecstatic as I hadn't seen many decent bucks this season. Anyways, here's the buck. Don't mind the mustache.... it's for a good cause.

Now for the bad part. I was heading home with my wife, near the Bruderheim sand pits, where there were guys riding their dirt bikes and riding around in the pits. Out of nowhere, a doe comes running out full speed. I didn't have time to touch the brakes and "BOOM!". My side curtain airbags deployed on both sides. There was even an airbag in my seat. I stopped the truck as quick as possible. My truck automatically dialed 911 and we had help on the phone really quick thanks to the Ford SYNC. My wife is halfway through her pregnancy so I was worried about her and our baby. Crews responded and helped us out in a professional manner. Quite a bit of damage for a doe but we are safe. The truck was special to me but not as special as my wife and unborn child. I am thankful it wasn't any worse. I am now without my 2010 F-150 FX4 for a while :sad0147::sad0147: I think the does were spooked by the riders and came onto the road so fast. Regardless, thanks for reading. Enjoy the rest of the season.
