Anybody had any experience/luck calling wolves?
Does the electronic rabbit work for wolves?

I just bought a Foxpro "Prairie Blaster". I am going to try it on coyotes and wolves. There are some wolf howls programmed into it as well as various coyote calss and "rabbit in distress". I'll update on what luck I have but it will be a while.

The reason I did buy one is a friend has one and had good luck with both coyote and wolf responses last year.

That must be a real rush,I mean holy smokes they are huge, and the whole pack running towards you,I call alot of coyotes but this brings it to a whole new level.
If you ever want a partner let me know!!!!

I have called wolves with a dying rabbit call three times. I saw the wolves first each time and called them back or closer. I think a wolf howl would work better though.

i am not soo sure about that cause, when they ear something in distress they think about food, and we all know thats what wolf do for a living is killing for food.

Wolves also passionately protect their territory.

Howling seems to work best in my experience.

Did they change wording of the regs? When they opened it for electronic call they specified "rodent" sounds were legal, and rabbits arent rodents but rather lagomorphs. I didnt see it changed in this years regs, did I miss it?

I maybe wrong but I think rabbits are considered a rodent

I asked fish and wildlife that question this spring and yes you can use rabbit/hare sounds to call in coyotes/wolves. Is an oversite in the regulations. Rabbits/hares are not classified as rodents but as Lagomorphs.

A friend of mine was in the swan hills winter before last and called in 7 different wolves and got 5 of them in 3 days and they used only a coyote howler and a coyote distress call. Apparently wolves hate coyotes, he said they came in on a string......
