Hunting after the season closes?

A post in another thread got me thinking. This is hypothetical. Last day of the season at last light, you take a shot at a legal animal and hit it, but only wounding it. Can you track it after legal light, or after midnight? At what point are you hunting game out-of season? Let's say you find it the next day alive, are you allowed to kill it?

Legaly you cant. Legaly you would have to call fish and wildlife so that they could do it or give you instructions on what to do.
