I'm thinking of getting a Eskimo Shark 51cc auger. Does anyone have any experiance with one of these? Thanks for the advise! :)

I got one last year and it's been great. I went with it because there are alot of good reviews for them.

I've had one for about 6 years now and no problems at all. Starts second or third pull every time after priming.
The one problem I did have was the instructions were printed wrong, the gas/oil mix was supposed to be 50:1 it was printed as 20:1. I called the company and they told me to take it in for a carb job at their cost.
No problems since.

Picked one up a couple weeks back, used it for the 1st time today. All I can say is AWESOME!!!

No complaints, starts easy, tons of power, drills fast. BEATS THE HELL OUT OF HANDAUGERING!!!!

On the downside its wayyy heavier than a hand auger so if your going on early ice before you can drive on, get a sled.

Got one last January. She ran great. Used Opti 2 oil and just fired up a couple weeks ago. 3rd pull she fired up.

So am I the only guy with an Eskimo that thinks their blabes are a little fragile to cutting in dirty ice?
My Z71 starts and runs great but I have been having blade issues....

what is dirty ice?

The lakes that get a lot of dirt particles blown on them have this problem. Most Southern Reservoirs get "Dirty Ice" due to the high winds and open terrain. The blades are not just cutting frozen water, they are cutting lots of dirt as well. One of the best examples of dirty ice is on Travers Reservoir near the coal beds.

I prefer the Blade System on Jiffy augers that "Rips" the ice rather than shaves it. The Jiffy's blades will take some abuse and still work fine. If an auger with 2 sharp blades gets "out of angle" from getting bumped or dropped blade first on the ice, they will not cut hole. A friend of mine has a 10 year old Jiffy that cuts hundreds of holes/year and has yet to be sharpened.

I've had mine for 4 years. no complaints, but the blades do dull very quick if you hit any dirt on ice at all. Worst part is they're a bugger to sharpen, and no one will do it for you because they're a curved blade. I buy a new set every year, Best one was when i went to help a guy out, brand new blades... cut 3 hokes hit some dirt or something about 6 inched into the third hole and done. wouldn't even start a hole. But at least he got to fish with his boy for the day.

Love my mako 8" Wallmart had a mako 10" $349.00 I would go with that one.
Mine allways starts on the first or second pull if primed and choked. You buy the 10" and will trade you my 8" for your 10" auger part, I will give you $50.00 on top of that. So in the long run you will have a eskimo for $300.00

Deal????
