My dog is a 1-year old golden retriever pup named Apollo and he loves fishing!
He likes to lick the slime out of my landing nets and to give the occasional trout a kiss before I release them... *slurp*

He acts as ballast in the front of the canoe when I go out alone so the prairie winds don't spin me endlessly in circles. If I drop a paddle by accident he'll leap in the water and bring it to me. He can spend all day waist deep in frozen mountain streams without complaining about the cold (more than I can say about my human fishing buddies :sHa_sarcasticlol:)

He hasn't caught any fish on his own yet, but he has managed a few toads in shallow water haha.

Great looking retriever. Here is my faithful fishing friend again. His tag says Ruger but he wont answer if you call his name, hes a free range dog comes when he wants.

Awesome pictures everyone. Have you ever hooked your dogs? I wasn't paying attention one day and I had my fly dangling in front of his face while I was rooting around in the canoe for something and he decided that my muddler minnow looked like a tasty treat. Thank goodness for barbless. Suffice it to say he hasn't been quite so interested in my flies since then. :scared0018:
