fishing at larger lake kinda hard to figure out wht the use, if you living in edmonton, for burbot i recomended sturgeon river in st. albert near the big lake, if you after large and small pike,i would say capilano water treatment plant at North Sas. river end of 50st, park your car walk towards to shore and take right trail walk until u here the heavy water fall sound... i was there sunday for about 2 hr caught 5 pikes 2 of them super giant, cut my 8lbs test line... i was at gull lake summer time, me and my budy, we spend 3 hrs try everthing, not even bite... never ever go tht lake again.... good luck

Ive found Gull to be a really "off and on" lake. Ive had most of my experience on the south side of the lake. A popular location is Brownlow's Landing, just before Bentley. Decent for most species.

I'd hope not, it's only 8-9 inches.

When I was there Sunday there was about 10 trucks on the ice I was shocked that people would brave only 9 inches of ice with there truck lol I walks on needless to say.

I'm amazed. I would not take a $20,000 plus risk, especially since many spots at brownlows are well within walking distance.

That's what I said I just think there to lazy to walk 50 or so feet lol the Ice was that milky ice to to it's alot weaker than black or blue ice. Prolly around the 26 I'll bring my truck on but I need at least 15 to 18 inches of ice to drive on lol.

i won't drive on until 18+ inches of ice, especially if there is white in it. Brownlows was slow all season last winter. to the point i am not sure i will go back there much. go further north to the point, might have better luck there.

copy and past this into google maps, this is around where i like to go. I never seen a white fish or burbot there but i allways have good luck with pike there.
Aspen beach is closed, but there is a road just before it you can use to get to the lake. from that road i walk to where the boat lunch at aspen beach is and go about 150 to 200 meters north east. you might need to punch a couple of holes as you go to get out of the weeds but once you find the edge of the weed bed it is great pike fishing. Hope this helps and good luck, i should probably also mention the water is only 8-10 feet deep in that area but the pike are there.
