I've seen hundreds of them in the east.usually they only make a 4-6 inch hole for perch or bluegill etc. They work just fine.

I have seen those out here before, but not for a few years.

They are usually very fast and quiet, but only work as small size 4-6 inch holes at best. The one in the picture looks all rusty and old and I would not buy it. Unless somebody knows here how to sharpen them.

GPF maybe let the guy in the buy/sell fishing section that's looking for vintage gear know.

those are like digging through rock with a spoon if they arent sharp. get a real auger with replaceable blades if you need one. I know from experience :angry3:

I have one (6") and take it along its great for drilling out frozen over 8 inch holes .. Its 45 yrs old and you can sharpen it with a file and stone works good for the fore mentioned.....fast and folds in half dont take much room.

Used one this season, worked fine through 5".

File and stone the blade as mentioned.

It'll last for ever.
