well finally made it out for the first hard water trip of the year. killed an elk earlier in the week as well as butchered my deer and got them into the freezer. winter meat secured, time to fish again. took the family out for a couple hours this morning. the bows were active and hungry. real fun first trip for everyone.

Good lookin bows Dace.

The ice down here is being beaten up really good today with this wind. I don't think there will be any ice left around here after this week.

I will probably be able to toss flies at some still water trout near the end of the week.

By the end of today down south there was 3+ inches of water on the ice but there was still 8-10 inches of ice.

Where were you at? Was today the trip that you had messaged me about a few days ago?

If that is the case I may have to make a trip out there on Monday instead of doing a trip exploring with the fly rods.

Nope didn't make it out there, we fought the insane wind at the 'ho for pike, had lots of hits, lost a good one at the ice and caught a few hammer handles.

JR and i slipped out for a couple hours this afternoon till dark. fished the same 8" holes we punched yesterday. lots willing to commit to our bait less presentations again today, even hooked one on the darter right at dark. that was cool. not a bad outing for round two, good times.

Dace them are some very nice Rainbows , very healthy looking fish aswell .

Probably one with fish in it , located in your regulations booklet .

yep. flasher Ken. as trav has stated it's showdown by marcum.



i like it Trav. a lot. easy to read. great target separation, zoom, ect. i can see a #14 barrel swivel in over 100' of water no problem. i think that's pretty impressive. i do at times get lots of razzing from buddys fishing traditional dial style units. that's ok. i catch a few fish.

If it helps you catch fish, who cares what others say about it. I'm half tempted to get one as a back-up unit, if the boss will let me that is...:D

Great pictures, and it is nice to see you returning the fish instead of all the pictures people send in keeping as many fish as possible.
That is what fishing should be about. Keep a meal or maybe 2 and return the rest.

what can i say. i'm still able to get it done old school with a hook and line and haven't resorted to the all mighty big long net! jeez, move back home and become a net fisherman for toothless, stinky fish. right on, good for you.

BTW i'll take a bag or two of fillets when you make it back this way. no problem.
