Wow, I post i can actually chime in on and not feel like I am intruding. Pa has always had very good bears and alot of them. In the article when they say 3900+ bears killed realize that is about a 2 week season,with no baiting and no dogs. We got one on our property that the dressed weight was 689lbs a few years ago. We also had one in our area that the game commission estimated at 900lbs live weight. We hunted that bear for years and the closest I ever came was seeing him the night before opening day. We never found him and no one ever got him(had a very identifying scar). He was around so long people were starting to cheer for the bear.

Bear hunting in Pa is a long shot and there are alot of average size bears but if you can find a big one they are huge.

I thougt i was the only pa guy on here
ive seen bears never when huntin them mostly when bow huntin.
were around clarion they get some bigones but not like that.
5/6 years ago there were 3/4 bears pushing 800 in the same year.

Two of those were in the township I live in in Pike Co. It is hard believe they can get that big. My friend has one bigger than my Grizzly. Do you ever attend the Eastern Wild Sheep Foundation?

still make it home every weekend of bow,rifle and muzzleloader.
