Monster Buffalo down Dec17/11 PICS

Went up north to drop off a sled my brother bought off me and decided to try and get a buffalo on my one day i had to spend up north. Went out saturdey morning and ran into this guy. I shot him from 50 yards away with my 300 mag in the neck and he dropped like a sack of potatoes. Walked upto him and he got up 5 yards from me! Shot him again from the him at 5 yards! SCARED the &$#! outta me! My words of advice is if you go buffalo hunting bring the BIGGEST gun you can get! I shot him with a 300 mag 180 bullets 50 yards away and it didnt even go half way through the neck! They are BIG TOUGHF ANIMALS! This buffalo was 14 feet 3 inches long had a 28 inch spread between the horns and weighed over 2000 pounds. Bases of the hornes was 15 inches. Worked ur behindes off to get him out of the bush! But it was well worth it. Loved every minut of it! This was a 100% free renging wild buffalo that anyone in alberta is legal to shoot!

The only draw for albeta is around red earth area i think? Every other buffalo that is out of the park and free ranging is fare game to everyone in albeta! no licences needed just haveto no where to go!

Good job man! Bust out the meat grinder and enjoy the burgers. I shot one aged at 16 years and you couldn't even cut the tenderloins with a sharp axe ...... man I love bison hunting.
