Fished Gull yesterday. Ice 10 inches thick. 0 trucks on ice, probably 20 parked on shore at our access point. Caught 2 good pike, saw 0 whitefish or perch. 6 feet of water. We were on the East side of the lake. Going again tomorrow. By the way, thanks to all those forum members who unselfishly share info on places to fish, bait to use etc, got my 2 boys aged 6 and 13 hooked on fishing! Thats a good thing right?

We were out at Parkland Beach area, a groupd of us, some perch spotted but not luck at them. 5 pike caught, biggest just shy of 10lbs, 2 pike were keep size and also one of the kids caught a 5.5lb burb. Ice thickness varied quite a bit, 10 to 12 inch average, lots of vehicles on the ice, even some with 1 ton diesels lmao. Good day out there, wind could have taken a hike but thats alberta for ya.

Fished SE corner yesterday and today. Accessed from Aspen Beach. Saw a few whitefish the first day but no takers. Saw about 1/2 a dozen today and caught 2 on red wire wraps. Water is gin clear this year. Caught in about 7-8 FOW. Ice is 12-16 inches. Some floodwater, but it is very minimal.

Hey, question on whitefish lures. What has had the most success for
you? Plus bait?

Fished west side of Gull today. Lots of very cautious pike. Never landed any. Caught 2 burbot(5 and 3.5 lbs). Never saw any perch or whitefish though. Ice barely 10 inches thick yet LOTS of vehicles on the ice. Very busy, at least 3 or 4 power augers going at all times.

How did you make out - Going out this Sat. or Sun. I thought I would try Aspen Beach Access.

Where can I get Wire Worms? Canadian Tire has none??? Mom and Pop Stores here in Rocky don't either.

usually tip with a maggot, but it is not required. sometimes the 'action' is better if you leave the wire wrap bare.

The key is to use 4lb test line. 6 lb and up will not give you the same twitch and whites can be real line shy. Use a ice rod with a spinning reel. You need the drag so they don't break off

Try twitching or bringing it up to the top and letting it dead fall a few times. They sometimes smack it on the drop.

Try the 'Store' at the SV of Gull Lake. They have reams of wire wraps. Best colors are red, orange, or yellow.

If you access at Aspen head about a mile east towards the sailing club. There were some guys fishing right at Aspen but I don't know how they did.

There is a wad of folks over at Brownlows

Great action here at wilsons beach, 2 pike 1 white and 3 pirch. Seen about 9 whites... Got the right hook now, was using mealworms, foolish. White maggots work all the time!

Anyone out in Birch Bay ( south west bay )?

Birch bay is ok, but is also slow. Out there 2days ago, some people got one or two whites. Some not.
