Took these pictures this morning. The bottom print looks like a yote print but the front one looks more circular like a domestic dog. There are a few in the same track this wide. Thoughts?

Both prints.

Problem is, there is no such thing as A domestic dog track.:D Varies with the size and breed of dog. Looks pretty big to be a coyote track.

Front and back paws will vary slightly. The front paw will be more pointed than the rear paw. You can't tell what kind of canine it is by the track because of the variety of canines out there. A better way to tell what kind of track it is, is to look at where it was and went (straight line, zig-zag, edge of the woods or middle of a field etc.). Also check for the odd nose print in the snow. Often times coyotes will push thier nose into the snow to smell for rodents, dogs don't usually do this.

coyote front paws are bigger than rear paws, while dogs have all 4 paws at the same size.. so if you see a difference in size of tracks = coyote

My guess was coyote too. Based on the fact that the tracks were in a straight line and very "focused" into the bush. Just seemed like a big print to me. Most I've seen in this area are smaller like the back one. There was a hill right after the paw prints so I was thinking the pad spread when it jumped up onto the hill.

And the fact that AO Members are some of the smartest people I know and the numbers show 2-1 coyote :dork:
