Below is a picture of my whitetail buck shot in WMU 248 on November 23rd at 4:10 p.m. Long story short... I rattled him in and shot him at twenty yards. I was standing beside a tree and he was standing between two trees. I shot a little higher than I would have liked but in the end it did the trick. He ran about 100 yards.

Thanks for the kind replies. Gramps73, It's taken me 15 years to get a deer with the bow, patience and persistance, eventually pays off. I've gotten lots of grouse and a couple of wild boars with it but this was my first big game animal. Yes, my heart was pounding. Like I mentioned in my first post, I rattled him in, but just prior to him coming in, I rattled in a button buck. But he caught me reaching for my bow, and we had a staring contest for what seemed like an eternity (more like 2 minutes) before he eventually walked off. After that I moved a couple of yards and stood beside a tree and rattled again. This time I had my bow ready and was shocked when I saw this one walking right towardsd me. He came to about twenty yards and stood between two trees staring at me head on. He finally turned to leave and when his head was blocked by one tree I drew back and gave a little grunt. he stopped and stood framed between the two trees. His head was blocked by one and his butt was blocked by the other. I settled the twewnty yard pin on him and shot. The arrow hit a little higher than I would have liked. he ran about 100 yards. As soon as he ran I pulled out my phone and phoned all my hunting buddies to tell them about the monster 4x4 I had just shot. When I found him I had to phone them back and tell them that He had major ground shrinkage. Regardless, I will be mounting his antlers proudly in my den.

I can't wait for next year as I will be able to have a general moose tag. This year I had a total of 6 moose around me at different times ( 4 different ones) and all at 50 yards or less. Plus, there is lots of deer, hopefully I can fill some deer tags too!

Yes, it was on private land.

nice deer! i am 19 so this was my first season bow hunting and early September i was sitting in my stand when around 4pm two bucks showed up... a spiker and a heavy 4x4.. as i a am waiting for the 4x4 to step into the shooting lane he just spooked... figures a coyote is standing right under my tree! for some reason the spiker did not spook and ended up feeding in front of me for 5 minutes or so... it was very hard letting him go as i really wanted to get my first bow kill!! hopefully he grows bigger by this season!

Nice deer Jammer! I can see why rattleing worked. By the looks of his antlers I'd say he was a scrapper!
