i saw a bunch of them over the years when i hunted k-country for moose and elk. i never really had the desire to kill one though until recently. it was actually all the talk of changes that sparked me to get it done. once i decided i needed to do it, it took 6 days of hunting. should have been sooner, but an issue came up that slowed things down.

i wish i had daytime pics. by the time i walked up to him, then walked back to my pack to get it and then climbed back up to the ram, light was fading pretty good.

Yea it was a hunt of a lifetime, i told my son if he brought his average up to 80% he could come on the hunt, he did just that. Then we floated the oglivie river searching, well a 14 year old gets real bored in a dingy , i had to split him and granpa up before granpa drowned him, Then we got fogged in camp for a couple days, Well the talking near drove us crazy. Just a very excited boy to be there.

So i told him to go and climb the mountain just to give us a break, He comes back a couple hours later and says . Dad theres either a big ram up there or a white rock out of place. Well that went in one ear and out the other right. Next day clear skys and up we went, Well that little turkey turned aroudn and that ram was right where he seen him, I will never forget it. DAD IT IS A RAM. And thats how papa killed his first ram.

No that was another ram which was on the mine only a couple hundred yards from the boundary. I figured him to be a little better ram then mine. He never ventured off the mine. There was a father son team that got the raffle tag and bought the other tag and i think that might be the fathers ram. I can't remember there names but if somebody said it I would recognize them.

That my one from 2010 and a good friend of mine's ram. Can't wait to get back in the hills again....
Definately doesn't compare to the brutes on here, but it was one of my most memorable hunts for sure.

Yep Denis! Same ear tag number if I'm not mistaken.

What a great experiance that must have been-that's what it's all about.

5,800 of these things.. why are you guying hunting them? I've never understood hunting though I respect it as another mans sport.. but seriously??? Are there a crapload in BC at least?? I thought there's only like 10k grizzlies and they are banned for hunting?

Um get your facts straight there are some where between 600-1000 ( prob. Double) grizllys. And 5800 sheep for the area they live in is a pretty good number. Dud you know the live in the Mountians. Not across the whole province. The yearly harvest of big horns is around 250. so I guess I'm politely telling you to GET BENT

If you don't hunt get off the hunting forum and go back to PETA.

There may only be 5800 sheep in hunt able areas outside of the national parks. Our mountains are a really small area of the whole province. That number almost seems high to me for a count outside of the parks.

250 isn't so bad then, I thought it would be a lot more than that. Just thought i'd ask RELAX! :sHa_shakeshout: Outdoors has a lot more to do with then just hunting lol
