After spending the night on the lake in my buddies ice shack, i want to build one. Found it way more comfortable than any of my tents. But where to begin? Any ideas ? Would like it to be as light as possible as I do go out by myself alot. Just looking for some advice and point in the right direction. His seemed to be too heavy for one guy to load and unload of the truck.

Pick up an old truck camper, and just lower it down with the jacks.
Place it on some wooden blocks and skirt it in.
You can pick up old campers from $500,and up .
Look for an older camper that has a gravity heater in it,as they don't need battery power to operate.

A buddy of mine built this exact shack a few years ago. Very comfortable and fits in a pickup box.

The use of the tarpaulin for the roof accounts for the weight savings. This plan is for a 7' long shack, but that can be made to any size. My bussy was always able to unload his and set it up by himself.

Built one similar to that several years ago...
