My SIL, Dave, and I were out at Dolberg yesterday field testing our tent mods. We also caught a few trout. In fact, although Dave iced more than I did, I hooked more plus landed the biggest. I wasn't so much losing fish as perfecting my catch and release skills.

I've enjoyed viewing everyone else's photos for a long time. Now, I finally got off my butt and learned how to post photos of my own.

Interestingly, some of these trout had snails in their digestive tracts. Just like Dave's 17" from last week, mine had 2 large sacks of eggs inside.

Hope everyone enjoys the photos.

Both Dave and I are new to ice fishing and are enjoying the time out on the ice. Thanks to all of you who have provided us with great information and recommendations. Hope to see some of you out on the ice. We're in a Clam Denali.

Great job. I've fished here a few times over the past few winters and found the fishing tough. Looks like you guys had a great day.

All I can say at this point is we sight fish. We're looking down at our hook/lure/bait and we see the green back of a trout by our hook/lure/bait and then, zip, our bait/lure/hook is gone and there's a fish on. Dave iced more than me by far. His advice to me was to set the hook. I thought I was setting the hook until he suggested I trap the line between my finger and the rod when setting the hook. I want to add that he pointed that out on the way home. Sneaky, Dave, very sneaky.
