Sometimes throughout the day they will bite well other times after sunset will be productive.
My best luck has been leaving a rod with a jig head and minnow sitting just off bottom 2-4 inches just put the rod in a rod holder and have a strike bell setup.

I believe they are nocturnal so the best time to be fishing would be at night when they are feeding.

Burbot spawn in the late winter early spring (end of Feb to the end of March)

Whites spawn in the fall as there are part of the salmon family.

If it is an overcast day you can catch them off and on all day long, with a jig and smelt on or very near the bottom.

Last 1/2 hour of daylite right up to midnight and the bite can be furious.

Have a good tent with some light and have some burbot fun.

night fishing throughout the year. Excellent fishing rivers and lakes after dark.

Bait should be laying on the bottom as the lingcod uses their barbel to find their food.

We used to fish the river at chip lake but it has been shut for years now.The best time for there was mid february from dusk till midhight, some days we would catch 30 each.I used to put a smelt on a spoon and place it on the bottom, every 20 seconds or so I would pull off the bottom thats when you knew if he was on or not,it worked like a charm. One night we pulled up 2 burbot just over 14 pounds.:sHa_shakeshout:
