Thinking about taking a Wolf/Cougar hunt in 328 and 339 one of these weekends. I have experience tracking wolves but not Cougar. Is Nordegg or Brazeau a good spot for a first time Cougar hunter? Any techniques or ways you guys hunt them? - i.e. spot and stalk, call...etc.

Make sure you call and check, to see if those zones are still open for cougar !

If you can spot and stalk a cat, Id like to see video of that,,,I think it works the other way around it spot and stalks you,,, one of the williest animals out there,

Ok, I am pretty sure that the WMU South of Nordegg is open.

And is Nordegg or Brazeau a good starter place? I've heard a few reports from Hinton area last year but not many this year.

Just a bit of friendly advice, if you plan to call a cougar, be sure to have a friend at your back watching behind you. These cats are amazingly quiet. You could wind up with a 150lb mass of slashing claws and biting teeth on your back before you would even know it was there.

The WMU may be open in the regs, however, cougars are on a quota. Check with F&W to see if the quotas have been filled in the zone you want to hunt.

I have hunting tracking and it is allmost useless i could get them to run and even had a big Tom do a circle and he was tracking me over his tracks but u need dogs or call them in .. 5 cougars reported got shot in Hinton area with a few rumors this year.. the trappers got a few with a 165# Tom last week.

The Cougars are getting very bold in the Timberland Hotel though one just about got my son last week:scared0018:
