Its hard to beat the Mr. Heater name but i may give this a try. going to have to check out what size propane tanks it will accept and i also noticed that it doesnt mention anything about a low O2 shut off.

It doesn't say but check to see if it has a low oxy shut off. If not go with the buddy. I would anyways at least if somethnig needs replacing you can readily get the parts and price is not much different. I have had a big buddy for years and it is awesome. You will never be cold no matter the temp.

I bought one today at CT. It has all the same features, low oxygen shutoff, turns off when tipped, pilot light with igniter and can be hooked up to a 20lb tank.... That's what I'm planning on doing for my next outing. I used it today, worked excellent, couldn't be happier :)
I believe the brand name is Martin.

Thank you.
It seemed solid and light, and the element had a picture perfect burn, a solid infared. I thought I had a problem with it off the hop when it went out on me, but I moved it from one corner of my ice hut to the other and set off the anti tip feature... a comforting feeling. I put the extra few bucks I saved and bought the hose attachment so I can use my 20lb propane cylinder, it's too bad in Alberta we can't fill the 1L bottles ourselves, it gets expensive if you like staying warm.

glad to hear it has the low 02 shutoff and you can get a hose for a bigger tank. going to have to head down and pick one up

With the weather the way it is, i am not sure you really need a heater, i was in a t-shirt by end day.

LOL... I agree, it's been warm :) I've taken my 3 year old son out with me the last 3 times and even though the last two outings we've been skunked, his little hands and feet were warm and he never complained once!! The next time we're out I better take him to a place where we can haul out some perch and leave these picky trout ponds alone for a while!
I've hearn Nakamum is the place to go near Edmonton....

Haha yeah the weather has been crazy. it's supposed to be + 5 here tomorrow so I decided I'm going to take my daughter out for her first time on the ice, hopefully she can snag a few rainbows.

There is a 1 year warranty, written on the outside of the box.
